About The Position

The Forensic Science Internship at RJ Lee Group offers hands-on experience supporting active criminal forensics research projects within our nationally recognized criminal forensics laboratory. Interns work closely with our scientists and technical staff, contributing to ongoing research with a focus on primer gunshot residue (pGSR) analysis and related forensic methodologies. Interns gain real-world experience working alongside experts in forensic science, materials characterization, and laboratory research—an excellent foundation for future careers in forensic laboratories, law enforcement support, or advanced scientific study.

Requirements

  • Currently completing at least two years of college in a forensics oriented program, such as Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, Criminal Justice with forensic concentration, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Strong interest in forensic laboratory work and scientific research.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to work onsite in the lab during the internship period.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Assist forensic scientists in research related to gunshot residue, including sample preparation, particle analysis, and data organization.
  • Conduct literature reviews and gather supporting scientific research under staff direction.
  • Help maintain laboratory documentation, records, and research logs in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in basic laboratory tasks, including safe handling of samples, routine equipment upkeep, and proper documentation.
  • Support ongoing forensic projects assigned by team as needed.
