About The Position

The Forensic Systems Analyst I position at the Yolo County District Attorney's Office involves collecting, processing, preserving, and analyzing digital evidence in criminal investigations. Requirements

  • Possession of an Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in conducting forensic computer examinations and cellular phone data extractions may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must attain and maintain one of the following certifications within two years: CFCE, CCE, EnCE, or ACE.
  • Valid California driver's license, Class C or higher.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with validated forensic software programs.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements pertaining to digital forensic analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, process, preserve, and analyze digital evidence in criminal investigations.
  • Perform forensic examinations of digital media such as hard drives, cell phones, and memory cards using validated forensic software.
  • Conduct field investigations at crime scenes to collect and preserve evidence for laboratory analysis.
  • Prepare detailed reports of digital evidence examinations and analyses, including observations and opinions.
  • Assist with technology crime cases and consult with investigators and attorneys regarding forensic examinations.
  • Prepare materials for court presentations and testify as an expert witness.
  • Stay updated on advancements in digital forensic examination and legal requirements.
  • Maintain and ensure operability of digital forensic equipment and manage inventory.
  • Train others on cybersecurity and legal requirements related to digital evidence collection.
  • Liaise with law enforcement agencies and coordinate findings.
