About The Position

The position involves providing assistance to individuals who have been found incompetent to proceed to trial or not guilty by reason of insanity. The role includes helping clients understand the legal system, offering training to achieve competency, and providing psycho-educational support. The case manager will also act as a liaison to clients in a Florida State Hospital, attend treatment team meetings, and maintain necessary paperwork. The job requires regular assessments and documentation of client symptoms, diagnosis, and interventions, ensuring compliance with program criteria. Additionally, the case manager will advocate for clients in various settings and link them with necessary resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any field.
  • 1 year of work experience providing related case management service to adult or child population.
  • Completion of AHCA approved targeted case management training within 3 months of hire.
  • Certification through the Florida Certification Board (FCB) within 6 months of hire.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Negative Drug Screening prior to hire and throughout employment.
  • Clear Criminal Background Check throughout employment.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Reliable vehicle, valid registration, and valid vehicle insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Computer literate.
  • Experience in case management or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to clients found incompetent to proceed to trial or not guilty by reason of insanity.
  • Assist clients in learning the basics of the legal system to evaluate their competency.
  • Offer individual and group training to achieve competency.
  • Provide psycho-educational and stress/time management training.
  • Review conditions of the conditional release order.
  • Support clients in their efforts to stay in the community.
  • Act as a liaison to clients in a Florida State Hospital by attending treatment team meetings.
  • Meet with forensic clients to assess and document symptoms, diagnosis, and interventions.
  • Complete documentation to open clients into TCM when appropriate.
  • Establish prioritized behaviorally descriptive, realistic desired changes with clients.
  • Maintain Continuity of Care in accordance with Florida Statutes and Administrative Codes.
  • Act as an advocate for clients at staff meetings and court hearings.
  • Link clients with necessary resources and monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Use crisis intervention skills to anticipate and prevent crises.
  • Remain current in knowledge of psychotropic medication and DSM IV diagnosis.
  • Make monthly face-to-face contacts and bi-monthly home visits with clients.
  • Meet productivity standards.
  • Utilize support funds effectively to meet client needs.
  • Complete all progress notes and documentation.
  • Complete required judicial reports every six months or as requested.
  • Monitor conditional releases for appropriate clients.
  • Attend all court dates as requested by the Public Defender's Office.
