About The Position

The Forensic Scientist position involves the examination of evidence submitted by law enforcement personnel, including digital devices and biological samples. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a natural science or equivalent.
• Three years of experience in a forensic laboratory.
• Knowledge of programming, server networks, and network security is preferred.
• Discipline and tool certification (e.g., IACIS-CFCE, Cellebrite, Magnet Axiom) required after employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis of mobile devices, computer-based systems, hard drives, digital storage devices, and vehicle infotainment systems.
• Design and conduct analytical tests including chemistry, biology, digital evidence analysis, latent print analysis, and firearms/toolmarks analysis.
• Document evidence and prepare detailed reports of findings for submission to legal authorities and courts.
• Testify in court as an expert witness on the analysis of evidence and conclusions reached.
• Research scientific literature and exchange information with peers to stay current with the latest scientific advances.
• Participate in the laboratory's proficiency testing program.
• Provide training, technical support, and consultation to law enforcement officers, attorneys, and public officials.
• Conduct crime scene investigations as requested by law enforcement agencies.
