About The Position
The Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory is seeking dedicated individuals for the position of Forensic Scientist 1, specifically focusing on Drug Chemistry. This role is integral to the Criminal Justice System, requiring a blend of technical and scientific expertise to analyze evidence related to drug chemistry. As a Forensic Scientist, you will work in an accredited forensic laboratory, where you will be responsible for performing accurate and timely analyses of evidence, preparing and maintaining detailed records, and managing a caseload while communicating effectively with law enforcement and legal partners. You will also be expected to provide credible sworn testimony in court, ensuring that your findings are presented clearly and professionally. In this position, you will apply objective and critical thinking skills to independently plan and solve challenges related to casework. You will prepare necessary reagents, standards, and controls to ensure quality results, and act as a resource for other analysts within the Forensic Services Division. Training will be a key component of your role, as you will both receive and provide training related to your duties. Additionally, you will be required to complete proficiency tests annually to maintain your skills and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
