About The Position

This position provides medical forensic exams to victims of intentional and/or interpersonal violence (sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking). He/She is accountable for the practice of forensic nursing as defined by state and national guidelines, the Ohio Revised Code, and the International Association of Forensic Nursing (IAFN).

Requirements

• Associate's Degree (Required)
• Current registered nurse license from the State of Ohio
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
• Completion of a 40+ hour didactic training
• Ability to perform speculum exams under supervision
• Completion of a minimum of 3 sexual assault exams

Responsibilities

• Provide medical forensic exams to victims of violence
• Accountable for the practice of forensic nursing according to guidelines
• Perform speculum exams under supervision until competent
• Complete a minimum of 3 sexual assault exams with an experienced forensic nurse
• Commit to being on call a minimum of 48 hours per month
• Attend bi-monthly meetings and continuing educational opportunities
• Provide 2 years of service as a forensic nurse after training
