About The Position

The main purpose of this position is to provide evaluative and consultative services to courts around the State, in addition to operating in a liaison role with clinical teams at the hospital regarding legal issues faced by their patients. This position includes conducting evaluations as to defendants’ competency for trial and criminal responsibility, writing reports, testifying as needed in the District and Circuit Courts of Maryland, conducting risk assessment consultations, conducting groups with court-committed patients, representing the hospital at Statewide meetings and in county-level forensic meetings, representing the hospital in administrative hearings and teaching/supervising psychology trainees. The Office of Forensic Services supports the mission of the organization through active participation in clinical efforts to provide treatment in a recovery-oriented environment. Requirements

  • Education : Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists.
  • Experience : Two years of experience rendering psychological services or engaged in psychological research after receipt of the Psychologist license.
  • Candidates for this classification must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to permanent appointment to a position.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
  • Will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
