About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the resident state, with preference for multi-state licensing or active NCEES Record.
• Experience in expert witness testimony is a plus.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in power generation, grids, and distribution systems.
• Knowledge of installation standards of care and arc mapping.

Responsibilities

• Provide power system analysis and determine the origin and cause of fire and explosion losses.
• Evaluate failures of electronic equipment, appliances, and consumer products.
• Analyze lightning strike damage, electric shock causes, and power surge damage.
• Inspect losses and loss scenes at various types of buildings.
• Investigate and assess damages and evidence due to failures for insurers and litigation support.
• Document failure analysis and causation of failures.
• Examine and test evidence in a laboratory setting and research related failure modes.
• Collaborate with other experts to produce detailed reports on losses and damages.
• Serve as an expert witness in court and/or depositions.
• Document and maintain billable hours for forensic engineering projects.
