About the position

The Electrician I position at Aerotek involves installing and maintaining electrical systems in various commercial projects across the DMV area. The role requires proficiency in handling different types of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with safety codes, and diagnosing any issues that arise in electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain electrical power, communications, lighting, and control systems in homes, businesses, and factories.
  • Proficiently work with conduit types including EMT, rigid flexible, sealtite, and PVC.
  • Handle other raceways such as under floor duct, cable tray, square duct, and distribution bus duct.
  • Manage distribution equipment under 600 volts, including service panels, sub 400 panels, fuse panels, and transformers.
  • Install wires and cables in various configurations including conduit, trays, duct, and racks.
  • Assemble and install finish materials and trim devices such as fixtures, switches, and electric heating equipment.
  • Wire control equipment including motor control equipment, relays, thermostats, and indicators.
  • Specialized wiring for systems like sound systems, fire alarms, and street lighting.
  • Support tasks including trenching cleanup and material handling.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems for hazards and compliance with codes.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices.
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints for wiring and equipment placement.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience as an electrician managing crews and schedules.
  • Active apprenticeship electrician license or Journeyman Card.
  • Proficient knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local codes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
