About The Position

Position Purpose: Perform duties to supervise all line crew activities in performing line service maintenance and construction functions. Enforce safe operating practices and ensure that crew members receive proper instruction and training to perform job assignments correctly and safely. Essential Functions: A. Supervise activities of line crew in the performance of assigned projects, while ensuring that crew members are receiving training and proper instructions. 1.Supervise and coordinate work on the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Cooperative's electrical distribution system and signal circuits. Closely monitor and direct work on hot lines and ensure that safe practices and established procedures are followed. 2.Observe work of crewmembers and provide direct training in safety matters, job performance, and operating procedures. 3.Monitor employee performance and enforce adherence with the Cooperative's personnel and safety policies. 4.Supervise and coordinate work on all types of single and polyphase transformer installations, rephasing and phase rotation on polyphase circuits. 5.Supervise and coordinate work on the installation, removal and relocation of transformers, lighting, secondaries, service drops, oil circuit breakers, poles, conductors, capacitors, regulators, and other line equipment. 6.Supervise and coordinate work on the installation or removal of instrument transformers, recording or indicating meters of all types. See that load and voltage tests are conducted. 7.Maintain records and submit various reports and forms such as time records, vehicle/equipment mileage reports and gas tickets, material charge-outs and credit-ins, etc. Verify time charged and account numbers assigned on time sheets and work orders daily. 8.Respond to all types of on-call assignments independently as required. B. Perform staking and line layout duties from electronic data or staking sheets as assigned. 1.Supervise and direct the line crew in reading and interpreting staking sheets. Develop material list from the staking sheets. 2.Supervise and direct the line crew in reading and interpreting RUS specifications and line construction assemblies, and NEC and National Electric Safety codes. 3.Ensure that the line crew is knowledgeable of the Cooperative's electrical and mechanical tagging and other numbering systems, SCADA system, and the layout, feeds, and delivery points of electrical transmission and distribution lines. 4.Follow standard procedures to check materials in and out of the warehouse. C. Follow safety standards and ensure that all line crew members are aware of and are following safety rules and procedures. 1.Know and comply with the Cooperative's safety regulations and enforce compliance among crewmembers. Provide instruction and training to crewmembers as appropriate. 2.Maintain current American Red Cross Standard First Aid, Adult CPR certifications, and pole resuscitation techniques. 3.Know and comply with traffic laws and regulations, federal motor carrier regulations, and state DOT/Public Service Commission regulations. 4.Ensure that assigned trucks and equipment are operated safely in accordance with government and the Cooperative's safety rules and regulations. 5.Ensure that assigned vehicles, tools and equipment are in good, safe working condition and properly maintained. Promptly report any vehicle, tool or equipment that needs repair. Other Duties: 1.Use radio equipment for communications in the correct manner according to regulations. Ensure that crewmembers use radio equipment properly. 2.Detect faulty operations or materials and report all unusual conditions to district supervisor. 3.Be available to respond to all types of emergency service calls. 4.Follow safety procedures and keep work area clean and orderly. 5.Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience as a First Class Lineman
