About The Position

Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees on the facility grounds including pruning, trimming, root feeding and pest control. Directs and assists the staff on the planting of new vegetation, the replacement and spraying of trees and shrubs, and tending to high stress areas especially during the summer months. Develops detailed annual plans for the seasonal rotation of plants, flowers, etc., in the facility's various landscaped areas and flowerbeds resulting in fresh, eye-catching and pleasant flower and plant displays. Stays attuned with current fertilizer and pesticide application. Participates in the application of fertilizers and pesticides Oversees the preparation of soil plant beds, established by seed or transplants, and maintains annual perennial flowers in aesthetically pleasing arrangements. Oversees the operation of mechanical and power equipment utilized in the maintenance of ornamental plants and trees. Coordinates snow removal (where applicable). Assists the Manager in interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Assists in the management of department members that may include, but is not limited to: Landscapers, Foreman. Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Assists in developing ongoing training programs. Assists in monitoring business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as required. Associate's degree (AA); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requirements

  • Associate's degree (AA); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Pesticide Application License
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job
