About The Position

Southern Land Company is a national real estate development and construction firm headquartered in Nashville, TN. The Grading Foreman position is a critical role within the SLC Infrastructure team, specifically working on a long-term project in the Storyvale community located in Nolensville, TN. This position does not require travel, and it offers competitive pay along with a comprehensive benefits package. The Grading Foreman will supervise craft employees assigned to various construction disciplines, including concrete, paving, utilities, site development, excavation, and grading. The ideal candidate will have experience operating construction equipment and will be responsible for ensuring that civil and heavy highway-related projects are completed safely and efficiently. In this role, the Grading Foreman will oversee assigned crew members, ensuring that tasks are completed safely, productively, and to a high-quality standard. Responsibilities include prioritizing and scheduling tasks, communicating plans to crew members, and serving as a liaison between field engineering and crafts to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications. The Foreman will also assist in planning work schedules, determining manpower levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements, as well as monitoring crew performance to maintain safety and productivity standards. Additionally, the Foreman will complete employee timecards, advise project management of potential issues, and maintain positive relationships with other departments to support the construction schedule. Safety is a paramount concern in this role. The Grading Foreman will work in a field environment that may expose them to dust, inclement weather, and extreme temperatures. They will be responsible for identifying hazards, ensuring that employees have the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and that they are adequately trained in high-risk areas before starting work. The Foreman will also hold employees accountable for compliance with safety policies and investigate any incidents that occur on the job site.
