About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Underground Utilities Foreman to lead and manage field crews on utility installation projects. The Foreman will oversee daily operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in underground utility work, and a commitment to fostering a safe and productive work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional training in construction management or related field is a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in underground utility construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of trenching, shoring, pipe installation, and heavy equipment operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and grade stakes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety protocols.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in trench safety, confined space entry, or OSHA 30.
  • Experience with GPS and laser-guided equipment.
  • Knowledge of large-scale infrastructure projects or public utility systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate field crews in the installation of water, sewer, storm drains, and other underground utilities.
  • Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure work aligns with design requirements.
  • Plan and schedule daily activities to meet project deadlines and milestones.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and inspectors to address challenges and keep the project on track.
  • Enforce all safety regulations and company policies on the job site.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments.
  • Ensure proper trenching, shoring, and confined space procedures are followed.
  • Address and document any safety incidents or violations, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Monitor work progress to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.
  • Perform inspections of installed utilities, including pipe alignment, grading, and connections.
  • Identify and resolve any issues with materials, equipment, or workmanship.
  • Lead, train, and mentor crew members to develop their skills and maintain high morale.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and provide clear instructions to team members.
  • Evaluate crew performance and provide feedback to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Coordinate the delivery and storage of materials needed for daily operations.
  • Minimize waste and optimize resource utilization to control costs.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, crew hours, and equipment usage.
  • Submit reports to the project manager regarding project progress, delays, or issues.
  • Assist with documenting changes to the project scope or plans.
