About The Position

The Foreman (Transmission) is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance & repair of overhead electrical Transmission systems. This position works in various locations/requires travel to other states depending on customer needs. This is a supervisory role.

Requirements

  • 8-years minimum recent field experience.
  • Coordinate & inspect work of crew members.
  • Complete and comply with all company reporting procedures & complete all necessary company paperwork.
  • Valid CDL.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Able to work overtime frequently & travel long distances.
  • Able to read/write & communicate effectively.
  • Acceptable MVR/background.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen & adhere to Company drug policy throughout employment.
  • Capable of taking & following directions.
  • Work as a team member.
  • Meet E-Verification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely on new construction, maintenance, or repair work on energized/de-energized transmission systems.
  • Supervise & give technical guidance to Lineman, Apprentices & Groundman while performing electrical transmission & varying equipment projects.
  • Responsible for upkeep & safety of all equipment & tools assigned for transmission construction.
  • Coach & lead entry level employees through work procedures and encourage productivity.
  • Lead and teach hot stick work on energized lines.
  • Hold pre-job/tailgate briefings.
  • Install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches & switchgear.
  • Replace cutout fuses in and clear any faulted circuits/systems.
  • Lead a crew in assembly & erection of structures.
  • Perform basic bucket rescue.
  • String overhead wire.
  • Set poles & anchors.
  • Work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill & care.
  • Troubleshoot and oversee the troubleshooting on primary & secondary systems.
  • Proficient in all aspects of distribution linework.
  • Properly sag wire.
  • Phase out a line using phasing sticks & understand proper use of phasing sticks.
  • Safely install & remove mechanical jumpers.
  • Understand grounding procedures, minimum approach distances, and how to obtain a one shot on a recloser.
  • Identify & locate puller & tensioner setups.
  • Communicate and take line clearances.
  • Familiar with induced voltage.
  • Climb various structures (wood, steel, etc.) and have the tools to do so.
  • Safely operate equipment.
  • Safely complete a reconductoring job.
  • Complete all required safety training, & know/understand DOT and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain company vehicles/equipment/tools in good working order.
  • Function well in a high-paced & at times stressful environment.
  • Complete all other related work as required to complete the job in its entirety.
