About The Position

Supervise, plan, assign, and inspect the work of Locksmith staff. Provide technical knowledge and assistance on all repair issues pertaining to locksmith work. Inspect the work performed by contract services. Oversee the work order system's schedule ensuring work is on schedule and completed in a timely manner. Pre-plan jobs so that materials can be ordered. Order all materials for work orders daily. Maintain accurate records for maintenance functions including status, cost of labor, materials, and supplies for work order close out Supervise the training of new employees and apprentices. Evaluate employees as required by District policy. Coordinate work with other Maintenance Services employees, other District employees, and outside contractors. Communicate effectively with administrators, department heads, other District staff, and contractors in a professional maner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair and complete each project request. Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and vehicles assigned to Locksmith department and communicate with the department manager regarding known issues or concerns. Perform necessary procedures to ensure the accuracy of hours worked, overtime hours worked, and benefit time used prior to turning in biweekly time cards to the payroll clerk. Attend bond meetings and walkthroughs of bond funded work at District facilities. Respond to all emergency call-outs as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of direct experience.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, ability, and skills related to doors, locks, and mechanisms.
  • Demonstrates leadership and motivational skills to provide work direction to Locksmiths on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
  • Proven communication skills, both written and oral, necessary for planning, submitting, inspecting, evaluating and completing locksmith work.
  • Demonstrated skills in accurate record keeping and computer data base management, including work orders and material procurement.
  • Proven basic computer skills to interface with District software including Microsoft Office.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and a record that meets the District's standard.
  • Must pass a Dallas ISD random drug test.

  • Ability to speak in Spanish is a plus.
