About The Position

The Foreign Military Assistant Specialist role within the Department of Defense involves advising foreign military personnel on aviation platform sales and transfers, developing educational and training programs, and evaluating aviation trends and technologies. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining and coordinating foreign training and education requirements to support the Security Cooperation Education and Training Program (SCETP).

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
• Appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• Position requires DoD Security Cooperation Workforce Certification.

Responsibilities

• Advise foreign military on aviation platform sales and transfers.
• Develop education and training programs for foreign countries.
• Evaluate aviation trends and new technology to determine their impact on aviation operations, maintenance, or training requirements.
• Maintain a country's programs in the Defense Security Assistance Management System (DSAMS).
• Coordinate quantitative and qualitative foreign training and education requirements in support of the Security Cooperation Education and Training Program (SCETP).
• Advise management on the administrative management of foreign students at a training activity.
