About The Position

The Foreign Language Interpreter - Spanish facilitates effective and clear communication between non-speaking patients, their families, and Health System staff. This role involves conducting medical and general interpreting for limited staff patients and their families, as well as performing a variety of administrative tasks related to training and education within the Health System. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High School or equivalent required.
• Bridging the Gap Interpreting Course or 40-hour equivalent course required.
• One year of medical interpreting experience required.
• Two or more years of medical interpreting experience preferred.
• Ability to perform consecutive interpreting (written and sight) required.
• Simultaneous interpretation preferred.
• Licensure required within 1 year of employment from NBCMI or CCHI.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates effective and clear communication between non-speaking patients, their families, and Health System staff.
• Conducts medical and general interpreting for limited staff patients and their families.
• Performs a variety of administrative tasks related to training and education within the Health System.
• May be assigned other duties as needed.
