About The Position

Performance Foodservice, PFG's broadline distributor, maintains a unique relationship with a variety of local customers, including independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. A team of sales reps, chefs, consultants and other experts builds close relationships with each customer, providing advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection and operational strategies. The Performance Foodservice team delivers delicious food, but also goes above and beyond to help independent restaurant owners achieve their dreams. Functions as a team member within the department and cross-functions, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
  • 1 2 years Perishable Purchasing is required
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Intermediate to proficient knowledge of Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Associates/2-year technical: Procurement, business management or related area
  • 2-4 years Purchasing experience within foodservice industry
  • Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP)

Responsibilities

  • Attain targeted profit margins as determined by the company's business goals.
  • Maintain product costing and pricing and ensure accurate purchase orders.
  • Effectively implement buying/purchasing strategies such that product is purchased in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Manage perishable inventory levels to the designated goal level.
  • Effectively manage the disposition of obsolete perishable inventory.
  • Consult with vendors regarding current orders and new perishable products.
  • Initiate orders, schedule deliveries and process related paperwork and documentation.
  • Provide product and pricing information to sales staff.
  • Investigate perishable product quality complaints.
  • Complete special projects, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
