About The Position

Performance Foodservice, PFG's broadline distributor, maintains a unique relationship with a variety of local customers, including independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. A team of sales reps, chefs, consultants, and other experts builds close relationships with customers — providing advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. The Performance team delivers delicious food but also goes above and beyond to help independent restaurant owners achieve their dreams. The territory is in Morristown, TN, and candidates must reside in the territory or be within a 45-minute drive.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
  • 1 year restaurant management - GM or kitchen manager and/or 1 year of marketing, business development, outside sales or hospitality experience.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean MVR.
  • Must reside in Morristown or be within 45 minutes of territory.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Sales/Marketing, Hospitality or related area.
  • 1-2 years foodservice sales/marketing and/or restaurant management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Generates additional business through analyzing sales territory and individual customers.
  • Samples products with existing and potential customers.
  • Plans general sales strategy including time and territory management.
  • Plans sales approach with individual customers and conducts effective sales presentations.
  • Grows sales and profit margins on an ongoing basis to meet established sales and margin goals.
  • Sets up new customer accounts by determining pricing and working with the Credit Department for initial authorization.
  • Performs initial follow-up work with customers ensuring delivery and product satisfaction.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by providing an exemplary level of service.
  • Builds additional business with current customers through product penetration.
  • Minimizes accounts receivable problems by monitoring accounts for compliance with credit terms.
  • Maintains awareness of pricing trends within sales territory.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
