About The Position

The Food Technologist position is aimed at creating new and innovative products that will provide a competitive advantage for Simmons in the marketplace. The role involves researching customer needs, developing and testing new ideas, and providing internal direction to senior management regarding customer expectations. The Food Technologist will also be responsible for drafting product specifications, ensuring accurate product launches, and maintaining R&D inventory. This position requires collaboration with plant personnel and the marketing manager to ensure customer needs are met and to manage test inventory effectively.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in meat processing, meat product development, or related quality assurance experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in meat or poultry production, development, or quality assurance.
• Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Meat Science, or a related degree.

Nice To Haves

• Related Master's Degree.
• CRC/CCS Certification Status.

Responsibilities

• Research all needs as specified or directed by the customer.
• Develop and implement timelines based on customer-specific direction.
• Design and submit proposed ideas for tentative costing.
• Compile data, ingredient information, packaging requirements, and plant standards to ensure accurate costing.
• Draft product specifications that describe the specific needs for the customer.
• Ensure product launch accuracy by consulting with plant personnel.
• Maintain R&D inventory and provide direction to the R&D Coordinator.
• Participate as a member of the team in ongoing development and implementation of team concepts.
• Foster strong cohesiveness regarding major issues within the team.
• Maintain familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems and communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
