About The Position

The Food Technician role is focused on supporting the Research and Development (R&D) team in creating innovative food products that enhance Simmons' competitive edge in the marketplace. This position involves various kitchen support tasks, including sample preparation, inventory management, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness and equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb packages multiple times daily.
• Ability to work on one's feet for an entire shift.

• Experience in Food Processing or Restaurant Industry.

Responsibilities

• Provide kitchen support to all R&D personnel.
• Order, receive, organize, prepare, evaluate, and ship freezer and benchtop samples as needed to meet customer requirements.
• Utilize online systems for shipping samples, including printing labels and packaging.
• Lift and strap up to 50 lb cases into shippers on a daily basis.
• Submit shelf life and nutritional samples, and prepare product presentations and group lunches.
• Collect and present data points on required products to relevant personnel.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of assigned areas.
• Maintain cooler, freezer, ingredient, and supply room inventory.
• Coordinate with R&D personnel on removal of excess inventory.
• Manage incoming and outgoing ingredient samples via online database.
• Coordinate logistics of samples, including ordering and transporting meat and sample cases from plants to the home office kitchen.
• Participate as a member of the R&D team, fostering strong cohesiveness and communication.
• Accept responsibility for identifying areas lacking cohesiveness and working to resolve issues.
