About The Position

Under general direction of the Chef, the Food Services Support Worker supports Fresno EOC’s Food Services operations by performing a variety of tasks including dishwashing, sanitation, basic warehouse inventory handling, and food production support. The role requires adherence to food safety standards and agency policies. This is an on-call position that is called upon as needed to meet production demands, staff shortages, or special events. Assist in the fulfillment of the Agency’s vision, “A strong Fresno County where people have resources to shape their future free from poverty.”

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of related work experience in food production preferred.
  • Food Handlers card required or obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.
  • Maintain valid California driver's license and the minimum auto insurance as required by state law, or reliable transportation. For those driving agency vehicles, must maintain insurability under agency policy.

Responsibilities

  • Wash dishes, insulated containers, utensils, and kitchen equipment using approved sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dishwashing and sanitation areas.
  • Follow proper food safety and sanitation protocols in accordance with USDA and local health department regulations.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations, including sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces throughout shifts.
  • Assist with loading and unloading food containers, supplies, and inventory in warehouse and kitchen areas.
  • Perform basic inventory tasks such as labeling, storing, and rotating food and supply items.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory movement and container usage.
  • Ensure safe handling of materials and compliance with transportation safety standards.
  • Assist in the preparation, assembly, and packaging of meals according to Fresno EOC standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support meal distribution activities, including staging and organizing food items for delivery.
  • Properly dispose of food waste and recyclables Collects and disposes of trash in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist with the setup and break down of the Nielsen Conference Center.
  • Assist with off-site catering events with setup, meal assembly, and break down.
  • Respond to last-minute scheduling needs and shift coverage requests.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and sous chefs to meet production goals.
  • Attend required training sessions and meetings.
  • Follows the program guidelines and regulations.
  • Wears protective shoes and clothing.
  • Adheres to all Fresno EOC Personnel Policies and Procedures.
  • Travels for agency business using reliable transportation.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Works evenings and weekends as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
