The Dietary Aide helps prepare and serve food that is attractive and nutritious to the patient population and washes all dishes used in the department (patient and non-patient). Requirements

Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written).

Responsibilities

Understands and applies food requirements for the hospital population
Safely operates and maintains equipment with a high degree of cleanliness
Takes and records accurate temperatures on patient foods (cold and hot)
Prepares accurate trays, assuring that patients receive proper diet
Prepares snacks for patients and delivers them to the nursing units
Operates the dish machine to insure thorough cleaning of dishware and utensils
Delivers patient meal trays following infection control guidelines.
Patient is offered substitute meal of equal or greater nutritional value if tray is refused.
