About The Position

The Toledo Zoo is currently seeking a Food Services Leader. The Food Services Leader coordinates activities and operations of all food service areas. This position will lead subordinate staff in the preparation of food, assure proper customer service expectations, adheres to proper cash handling procedures, and maintains cleanliness and safety of food service areas. Reports to the Senior Food Services Manager - Catering. The ideal candidate will oversee the execution of events across the zoo grounds, utilize banquet event orders (BEO), supervise food preparation, train and direct staff on event days while performing excellent customer service. Responsibilities will include supervising personnel, maintaining safety and sanitation, cash handling, and supporting various food service areas. By assisting with inventory management, trainings, and equipment maintenance, this position ensures smooth operations while collaborating with vendors, customers, and zoo staff. This position will adheres to Toledo Zoo policies and OSHA regulations. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and requires forty hours per scheduled work week.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in food services management, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required skills knowledge and abilities.
  • Must possess required certification in food service sanitation.
  • Must be 21+ years of age.
  • Flexible schedule is a must, with the ability to work night and weekend hours.
  • Must have a valid drivers' license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
  • The Toledo Zoo is drug-free workplace, including marijuana.

  • Prefer degree in Food Service, Business, or related field.
