About The Position

The mission of Hope the Mission is to prevent, reduce, and eliminate poverty, hunger, and homelessness by offering immediate assistance and long-term solutions. Our mission is to meet our participants' needs through an individualized and non-judgmental approach. The Food Services - Inventory Associate is responsible for assisting with all inventory management, storage, packaging, and delivery coordination operations in the kitchen. This role is crucial in ensuring optimal stock levels, cleanliness, and organization in the logistical areas of the kitchen. This position is part of Food Services but does not involve direct involvement in cooking activities, but rather focuses on ensuring the efficient operation of the kitchen. This position will work with our drivers and kitchen staff including Lead Cooks and Chef de Cuisine. It is important for the Kitchen Logistics Specialist to communicate effectively with multiple departments.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2+ years of warehouse work or related fulfillment or operations experience.
  • Experience with forklift, pallet jack and straddle stacker preferred.
  • Commitment to serving the needs of homeless families and individuals.
  • Food handler certification.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Drug and TB testing required.
  • Background check required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming shipments, unload trucks including kitchen supplies, dry goods, perishables, and equipment.
  • Perform a comprehensive examination of all incoming shipments to guarantee that they meet the required quality and accuracy standards.
  • Maintain precise records of all the items received, including their quantity, quality, and expiration dates. Practice FIFO (First in, First out) principles when stocking new deliveries.
  • Ensure accurate stock count by conducting a monthly inventory on the last day of every month with confidence.
  • Execute optimal storage strategies that enhance capacity utilization, guaranteeing systematic structure and ease of access.
  • Maintain inventory levels and ensure they're always sufficient to meet the demands of the kitchen operations. Notify the Kitchen Logistics Manager of any low stock levels.
  • Follow inventory control measures to reduce or prevent the occurrence of waste and spoilage.
  • Be a team player and have a great positive attitude.
  • Able to effectively collaborate with Food Services team members, supervisors as well as members of other departments.
  • Have excellent organizational skills and time management skills; be able to function under time constraints and deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize daily tasks list.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace.
  • Organize and clean Food Services areas including dry storage, refrigeration and freezer storage.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry, lift, push, and pull up to 70lbs.
  • Must be able to regularly bend and stoop.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must follow strict requirements about food safety.
