About The Position

About the Role The primary purpose of the Food Service Worker position (Retail Services) is to assist in station set-up, serving food to staff, students, and visitors in retail services in a professional efficient manner; and to maintain an organized and clean serving/dining environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently to perform the duties of the position is required.
  • Effective verbal and written communications.
  • Customer service and hospitality- oriented.
  • Attention to detail with appropriate follow through.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member in a flexible manner.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships within a multi-cultural environment.

Responsibilities

  • Service provided is patient centered.
  • Actively contributes to creating a friendly, welcoming, and safe environment for UH customers.
  • Communicates clearly to ensure understanding.
  • Responds to complaints and concerns by resolving issues immediately whenever possible.
  • Organizes work process to accommodate customer needs, including internal customers and co-workers.
  • Meets or exceeds customer expectations for service.
  • Maintains professional composure in the workplace.
  • Works effectively with team to ensure customer service scores for work area meet/exceed targets.
  • Demonstrates respect for patient rights.
  • Sets up designated food stations, prepares customer orders and services customers in an efficient manner within Retail Services.
  • Conducts various cleaning and sanitation functions.
  • Provides superior customer service in compliance with University Hospital’s Mission Statement and Five Star Service Program.
  • Participates in catering events and other retail venues as needed.
  • Handles food in compliance to Federal, State and Local Health Codes; and The Joint Commission.
  • Understands and adheres to University Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in University Hospital’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
