About The Position

Under the direction of the Head Cook, Assistant Head Cook, and Food Service Supervisor, assists in the preparation of all food items and serving of food items in a school kitchen.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current food handlers permit.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, students and other employees.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of United States currency, weight measurement and volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers, staff and students.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Board policies.

Responsibilities

  • Work as directed in the daily preparation and serving of meals in the school lunch program.
  • Operate Food Service Cash registers, Point of Sale computers, and record meal participation using rosters.
  • Assist in the clean up of preparation areas both before and after meal service.
  • Performs such other duties as, from time to time, may be assigned.
