About The Position

The Food Service Worker at Algona Lucia Wallace Elementary plays a vital role in
ensuring that students receive nutritious, safe, and appealing meals throughout
the school day. This position is responsible for preparing, serving, and
maintaining food service areas in compliance with health and safety standards.
The role requires close attention to detail to uphold sanitation protocols and
to support a positive dining experience for children and staff. The Food Service
Worker collaborates with team members to manage inventory, clean equipment, and
maintain an organized kitchen environment. Ultimately, this position contributes
to the overall well-being and satisfaction of the school community by delivering
quality food service with care and professionalism.

Requirements

• Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.
• Demonstrated manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks.
• Capability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Ability to do simple arithmetic
• Ability to make correct change and use a basic computation device

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to established menus and portion sizes.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas in compliance with health regulations.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while following all safety guidelines.
• Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
• Engage courteously with students and staff, providing friendly and efficient service during meal times.
