Monmouth Crossing has an employment opportunity available for a Food Service Worker. The Food Service Worker prepares and serves food, & cleans and maintains the assigned area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous short order cooking experience preferred.
  • Two years culinary school or training preferred.
  • Basic command of English language (speaking, reading, writing) and basic math skills required to ensure correct perform duties, understanding and following instructions, dietary restrictions, etc for patient, resident and employee safety.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team and customers.
  • Must be able to adapt to circumstances that arise and be able to make decisions quickly to problem solve any issues that may develop.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps work area and equipment clean and sanitary at all times.
  • Sets up assigned area and maintains adequate supplies during shift.
  • Presents and garnishes food in an attractive manner.
  • Prepares food and beverages for all meals as assigned including catered events.
  • Responsible for recording resident attendance at every meal.
  • Follows daily scheduled utility cleaning guidelines as assigned.
  • Adheres to State Sanitation codes and regulations.
  • Documents dish machine temperatures according to department policy.
  • Acts as wait staff in main dining room, a fine dining atmosphere, for all three meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Acts as wait staff for private events in family dining room.
  • Acts as a food runner to all tables in the dining room
  • Assists with employee events and meal service on special occasions.
  • Assists with food preparation by pre-plating items to be ready for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service such as salads, desserts, etc.
  • Delivers quality customer service to all residents dining in the dining room at all times and must appropriately respond to Resident behaviors/disorders.
  • Greets and takes orders on demand from residents, offering an ala carte menu with an array of options and food choices.
  • Relays food orders to cooks in kitchen with guest check style system.
  • Responsible for setting up and serving chafing dishes and meat carving stations for dinner service. Maintains live action stations to enhance Resident meal experience two times per week in main dining room.
  • Maintains salad fixings such as slicing tomatoes, slicing cucumbers chopping lettuce, as to meet the food preferences of residents.
  • Tracks and monitors residents’ guest meals and purchases and reports charges to billing for revenue sourcing.
  • Works in conjunction with nursing department to monitor food intake of residents who have reported signs of weight loss and reports findings back to Nursing department.
  • Applies education about special diets to resident meals; ensures diets are followed such as fluid restrictions, diabetic diets, gluten free diet, lactose intolerance, dysphagia, diverticulitis, diverticulosis, renal diet, heart healthy diet, low sodium, diets etc.
  • Takes inventory for dry stock items and reports to Dining manager for ordering.
  • Restocks items upon delivery truck’s arrival several times per week.
  • Responsible for the following between each meal service: mopping floors in kitchen, vacuuming carpeting dining room, removing garbage, washing dishes, cleaning inside/outside refrigerators and freezers, changing linen after each table use, cleaning shelving in kitchen and cabinetry.
