About The Position

To oversee the serving of meals to young children following proper safety and sanitation procedures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Food Handling Certificate
• ServSafe Certification
• Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, the ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses, to speak and be understood under normal circumstances.
• Must be able to frequently bend,lift, reach and climb stairs.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs
• Ability to function within guidelines of Agency’s core values and identification with Agency mission.

• Food handling a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast, lunch and snacks in accordance with menus and acceptable health and nutrition standards.
• Allocate and distribute incoming food to appropriate classrooms.
• Provide caterer with a daily breakfast and lunch count and place milk order.
• Monitor any children’s allergies and change menus accordingly.
• Monitor temperatures for freezer, refrigerator and milk cooler.
• Distribute menus to classrooms and children.
• Ensure that the storage of food is neat, orderly and safe.
• Ensure that all dishes, utensils and equipment are properly washed, sterilized and stored in a neat and orderly manner after meal completion.
• Ensure that all kitchen appliances are safe and properly maintained.
• Maintain a monthly inventory of all staple items.
• Order janitorial supplies and paper goods as needed following established procedures.
• Attend staff and nutritional meetings as required.
• Shops for groceries when necessary following established procedures.
• Perform other related duties as required.
