About The Position

The Food Service Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and sanitary preparation and distribution of meals within the Monroe-Gregg MS HS-10703 facility. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety while supporting the kitchen team in daily operations. The role requires consistent attention to detail to ensure that all food items are handled properly and served in a timely manner to meet the nutritional needs of students and staff. The Food Service Worker contributes to a positive dining experience by adhering to established guidelines and collaborating effectively with colleagues. Ultimately, this position supports the overall mission of providing healthy, safe, and enjoyable meals in a school environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity to handle food preparation and service tasks.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
  • Knowledge of basic sanitization and food safety practices.
  • Ability to do simple arithmetic

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a food service or cafeteria environment.
  • Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe).
  • Familiarity with school nutrition programs and guidelines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
  • Food Service experience preferred/customer service experience desired

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve food items according to established recipes and portion sizes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
  • Engage with students and staff courteously while serving meals and addressing any immediate needs.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper handwashing and use of protective gear, to prevent contamination.
