About The Position

GENERAL PURPOSE The Food Service Worker performs a variety of duties for the set up, delivery and serving of food. Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine duties related to the preparation and serving of food; cleans kitchen area and cooking utensils; and to perform other duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way would be: Education Less than high school is required; school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Requirements

  • Minimum six months experience as Food Service Worker in an acute care hospital or health care agency.
  • No previous experience required
  • Flexability a MUST
  • This position REQUIRES Weekend coverage, & some Holidays
  • Must meet state labor laws if operating equipment
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic English.
  • Food Handler’s Card required
  • Knowledge of sanitation methods in cleaning and caring of equipment.
  • Knowledge of practices of ordering, storing, and inventorying large quantities of food.
  • Knowledge of common weights and measures.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of kitchen areas and equipment.
  • Knowledge of The cleaning methods, standards, materials and equipment used in housekeeping.
  • Knowledge of inventory tracking principles.
  • Knowledge of hospital sanitation methods, materials and techniques that includes wall, floor, and fixture cleaning; chemical and disinfectant usage; sanitation and safety regulations and practices and JCAHO and Title 22 Regulations.
  • Ability to Estimate food quantity requirements for designated numbers of meals with a minimum of waste.
  • Ability to Follow oral and written directions; provide concise oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to Prepare and keep work and food preparation activity records and reports; inventory supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to Maintain effective security of kitchen personnel, equipment, and utensils.
  • Ability to Evaluate hospital environment service and personnel issues and provide alternatives.
