About The Position

The Food Service Worker position at Grundy Elementary School is designed to assist in providing a well-organized and efficient cafeteria where students can enjoy the food and nutritional services offered. The role involves serving food to students and staff, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, and ensuring compliance with the National School Lunch Program.

Requirements

• Food Handling Certificate or Food Manager Certificate.
• Current Illinois Driver's License.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Experience in the food service industry is preferred.
• Experience with the National School Lunch Program is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves food to students and staff with reasonable speed and accuracy.
• Comply with all requirements of the National School Lunch Program.
• Maintain functional operation and cleanliness of kitchen and equipment.
• Washes and sanitizes food service equipment and utensils as needed.
• Keeps food production, storage, and service areas clean and sanitary.
• Maintains cheerful disposition & positive attitude while preparing and serving food to students and staff.
• Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Works as a member of the school food service team.
• Operate point of sale system/cash register.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Job duties may have physical demands including bending, lifting, extended periods of standing and walking, pulling and pushing, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
• Must be able to read and follow recipes and perform basic math skills.
