Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED (preferred)
  • 1 Year Food preparation or distribution (preferred)
  • Computer Skills (preferred)
  • Diet Office Work Experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food items for patients, cafeteria guests and catering guests, including sandwiches, grilled items, salads, desserts, fruit, yogurt parfaits, breads, nourishments/supplements, beverages and condiments according to the daily menu, catering SER or patient menu.
  • Serve food to patients and guests with accurate portions following standard portion control.
  • Portion, label and place items into appropriate containers or dishes, replenishing items when necessary for guests.
  • Organize and stock all needed supplies, condiments, and utensils for meal service, following FIFO.
  • Replenish food items as needed and communicate to appropriate kitchen staff when supplies and/or food are running low.
  • Store all leftover foods by cooling quickly, covering, labeling and dating the containers, and coordinate the use of leftovers with cooks and co-workers.
  • Prep food items for next meal service for patients, cafeteria and catering guests, including slicing meats and cheeses, preparing sandwich fillings, defrosting items, and preparing vegetables, fruits, and desserts.
  • Answer the department phone, assist callers, and take messages when needed.
  • Prepare late trays/requests and deliver to the nursing units.
  • Verify daily menu with the cook and update the Menu Board and Café Menu Line.
  • Ensure that food signs are assigned to food items, especially foods containing major allergens.
