Prepares and serves District school meals in accordance with food and safety standards. Must be able to work in the Southeast area, will not be eligible to transfer to another area of Denver.   • Prepares or assists in the preparation of a variety of foods in accordance with food and safety standards.
  • Washes, cuts, cooks and or re-heats food items, weighing and measuring ingredients, according to recipes and instructions.
  • Sets up serving lines and serves meal or meal components.
  • Communicates with students and school staff when serving food items.
  • Operates cash register, accepting money and making change for food and beverages served.
  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment and facilities in accordance with approved housekeeping and safety practices and guidelines; performs related kitchen and facility related duties (e.g., laundry, general cleaning).
  • Operates kitchen equipment.
  • Stocks and organizes food related items and kitchen supplies in refrigerators, freezers, walk-in coolers, and store room; stores food and supplies in accordance with instructions and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).
  • Follows approved housekeeping and safety practices to ensure that safe conditions are maintained in the kitchen, food-serving areas, and in dining area
  • High School Diploma/GED Preferred
  • Must complete orientation before school placement.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Previous institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred.
