About The Position

Performs cashiering duties, including general food service work. Maintains sanitation standards in the preparation, service and dining room facilities. This role involves prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables, and weighing and measuring designated ingredients. It also includes carrying pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards, and distributing supplies, utensils and portable equipment. The position requires storing foods in designated areas in accordance with wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures. Ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety requirements is essential. The worker uses approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control. Serving customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service, interacting with customers, and resolving customer complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner are also key aspects. The role involves relaying relevant information to the supervisor. Cashiering duties include performing sales transactions, entering sales into the cash register to ensure purchases are accurately recorded, making change, accepting declining balance cards and other acceptable forms of payment, and issuing receipts to customers. Following standard procedures for issuing cash refunds is required. The individual is responsible for all assigned change funds and cash receipts, ensuring that the cash drawer is in compliance with overage/shortage standards. Replenishing condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining service area cleanliness is also part of the job. Other duties may be assigned. This position is for the Fall Semester and may involve periods of unpaid temporary layoff during breaks like winter and summer, though year-round work at different locations is possible depending on business needs.
