About The Position

Campus Dining invites applications for a food service worker in our Campus Dining Bakeshop at Princeton University. The food service worker is responsible is responsible for performing numerous tasks relative to bakery operations. Specific functions include assisting bakers in food preparation, packaging food for distribution, safe operation of bakery equipment and following proper garbage disposal and sanitation procedures. Requirements

Familiarity with food service procedures
Capable of working quickly and efficiently during rush periods
Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
Moderate physical fitness — as a food service worker, you must possess the following: moderate physical agility, full range of motion, and ability to maintain balance the ability to stand or walk up to two hours at one time for a total of 6–8 hours per day the ability to sit for no more than two hours during an 8-hour day, except for cashiers and card checkers who may sit for 2–4 hours at once for a total of 4–6 hours per day the ability to lift or carry up to 30 pounds from the floor to overhead frequently (34–66% of the workday) the ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds from the floor to chest height occasionally (less than 33% of the workday) the ability to push or pull using force up to 50 pounds occasionally (less than 33% of the workday) the ability to use arms and hands for simple grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, or pulling with force up to five pounds continuously (67–100% of the workday), and up to 30 pounds frequently (34–66% of the workday) the ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, and reach occasionally (less than 33% of the work day) the ability to work under a range of temperature conditions (e.g., kitchens, walk-in refrigerators, freezers, etc.)
Flexibility with scheduling, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
Schedules may be changed due to business needs and work outside the unit may be required.
This is an essential personnel position.

Responsibilities

Assist bakers in food preparation.
Pan up frozen product for baking.
Prepare pans as directed by manager/bakers.
De-pan baked products for packaging.
Package and label bakery produces for distribution.
Safely operates bakery equipment including automatic pan & utensil washing machine and cookie machine.
Maintains bake shop, bakery equipment and related areas in a safe and sanitary condition at all times.
Reports any safety and sanitation hazards to manager.
Adheres to the policy of “clean as you go” and assists in daily, weekly and periodic cleaning and maintenance duties in accordance with NJ State Sanitation Code.
Maintains the storage areas utilizing proper storage techniques, including enforcing a FIFO (first in/first out) policy for all foodstuffs.
Adheres to policies as addressed in the Personnel Manual, including policies in reference to smoking, employee meals, uniforms, conduct, appearance, safety, etc.
