About The Position

The Food Service Worker 1 performs a variety of routine duties related to the serving of food and is responsible for all customer monetary transactions. This role involves greeting customers promptly and courteously, handling financial matters responsibly, and balancing the cash drawer daily. The worker assists in setting up the serving area and serves customers according to established schedules and procedures. Additionally, the worker cleans the cafeteria dining area and customer service area following infection control and HACCP guidelines, informs the supervisor of supply and equipment needs, and maintains adequate food and non-food supplies during meal service. The position also requires communication of customer-related comments and complaints to the appropriate supervisor and completion of documentation requirements such as temperature logs and cleaning schedules. The worker must understand standard isolation procedures and HACCP guidelines, as well as their role in the hospital's fire, safety, and disaster programs. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in food service cashier preferred.
  • Must have math and customer relations skills.
  • Must be able to work in hot and humid areas.
