About The Position

JOB DUTIES: This position works under the direction of the Park Superintendent. Supervision, development and implementation of Platte River State Parks Walter Scott Jr. Lodge. Carry out assigned tasks related to the operation and maintenance of park restaurant, to include the food prep, cooking, catering, cleaning, and maintenance of facility. Hire, train, schedule and supervise seasonal workforce for the above listed area. Work closely with groups, and organizations to cater special events held at the park. Assist with the supervision and perform technical and practical work supporting the management, and park operation. During restaurant off season assist with office, kiosk, housekeeping and OHEC shooting range as needed. Publicize Park areas and the Agency's mission, program and goals by means of personal appearance before interested groups. Assist in handling administrative and data collections functions. Maintain records and prepare appropriate reports. Perform related work as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND one year related experience.
  • Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Ability to plan, manage, analyze and evaluate park programs.
  • Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and application of park and cultural resources management and conservation.
  • Knowledge of departmental rules and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain community and public relations with business, special interest groups, and state, local and federal agencies.
  • Knowledge of park operations, administration and financial management.
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to supervise subordinate staff and to enforce park rules and regulations.
