About The Position

The Food Services team is looking for a Food Service Technician who is well-skilled and a creative culinarian with versatile talents. This individual will prepare meals in the Atrium Café. The Atrium is a full-service restaurant in Building R on the campus of SAS Institute.

Requirements

2 years of experience with food preparation in area of responsibility.
Through knowledge of operation of quantity food service equipment such as mixer, dish machine, oven, slicer, food processor and cooking principles.
Ability to work in hot kitchen or with hot water; ability to stand at work table or serving line up to seven hours per day.
Advanced food preparation skills, first rate knife skills, cooking at correct temperature, and presenting finished dish in an attractive manner.
Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

Responsibilities

Work independently or with little help from supervisors in the preparation of items for the Atrium Café’s lunch services. These assignments may be moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
Operate and maintain food service equipment, including but not limited to slicer, panini press, combi-ovens, grill, flat top, tilt braiser, fryer and report repairs and maintenance as needed.
Assemble hot and cold, made-to-order and grab-and-go sandwiches, sides, and special offerings, May assist in dishwashing duties as needed.
Order and maintain inventory of products.
Serve food on the entrée line as necessary.
May assist in preparation of entrée, starch, soup, salad bar, or vegetable preparation.
Follow all health and safety regulations in the preparation and storage of food and in cleanup of all areas of the café.
Utilizes computers to stay informed about company news and policies.
Assist in other areas of the kitchen as needed.
