About The Position

Position is for a 10 month school year with eligibility for an additional 2 months to be paid by State Special School Benefits through Unemployment Insurance. Under direction and supervision of the Supervising Cook I, Food Service Technician I follows proper safety & sanitary methods to serve meals, prepare & dish up cold food items, snacks & beverages, and clean & sanitize dishes, tables, foodservice equipment & work areas. Perform other duties as assigned. This is a PM shift (10:30 AM to 7:00 PM Monday to Thursday; 6:30 to 3:00 on Fridays) Position is a limited term position. Requirements

  • Subject to fingerprinting and criminal record clearance by the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation and Tuberculosis clearance.
  • This position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
  • You will find the Minimum Requirements in the Class Specification.
  • Individuals who do not have lateral transfer eligibility, must have taken and passed an examination to obtain list eligibility for the classification in order to apply.
  • List eligibility may be obtained by meeting the minimum qualifications as outlined in the examination bulletin, and obtaining a passing score on the exam.
  • Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s).
  • Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov. Nice To Haves

  • Experience in preparation and/or serving foods and beverages, ability to follow direction and keep simple records, work independently and as a team member.
  • Practice punctuality, good attendance and follow good personal hygiene practices, knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn.
