About The Position

This is a Part-Time position, no benefits. Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission. ESH invites applications for the position of a FOOD SERVICE TECHNICIAN I - UTILITY DRIVER (part-time). This position is responsible for the efficient transportation of meal trays to ensure that patients receive their meals at the appropriate times, supporting their dietary needs with responsibilities that include, but are not limited to: adhering to health and safety regulations during transport to maintain the integrity of quality of food and preventing contamination and spoilage; ensuring transportation equipment, such as carts and retherm units, are clean, functional, and properly maintained; and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in food handling and preparation areas, adhering to health and safety regulations. SCHEDULE: Must be available to work up to 29 hours per week with shifts scheduled pm weekdays, weekends and holidays. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to routinely lift 50 pounds or 25% of body weight (whichever is less) and the capability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy objects, and moving around the kitchen efficiently.

Requirements

  • Must have a Valid Virginia Driver's License with acceptable driving record from the last three years
  • Experience driving delivery trucks up to 13 tons GVWR
  • Must be able to routinely lift 50 pounds or 25% of body weight (whichever is less) and performing physically demanding tasks, such as standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy objects, and moving around the kitchen efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Food Service training with basic knowledge of food service sanitation, safety and service requirements is preferred.
