About The Position

This position is part of the team that oversees some of our most popular venues in the Memorial Union: Der Rathskeller, Carte, Stiftskeller and the summer terrace brat stand. As the social heart of UW–Madison, the Wisconsin Union provides events, facilities, and activities for students, staff, faculty, thousands of Union members, and campus visitors. It also offers hands‑on leadership opportunities for hundreds of UW–Madison students.

Requirements

  • Previous restaurant experience
  • ServSafe Certificate required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Alcohol Server License required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Previous restaurant experience in supervisory or lead role

Responsibilities

  • Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
  • Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
  • Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
  • Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
