About the position

The Food Service Supervisor & Administrative Assistant role supervises employees engaged in serving food and in maintaining cleanliness of food service areas while providing support in all administrative tasks. This includes but is not limited to answering phones, filing, communicating with clients and customers, and scheduling staff. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to effectively communicate, answer telephones, and operate office equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with higher level authority for resolution of difficult issues
  • Submits and processes invoices
  • Sets up meetings, including preparation, and taking of meeting minutes
  • Responsible for data entry and analytical work
  • Provides clerical support
  • Seeks to improve efficiency of daily operations
  • Responsible for processing invoices & completing payroll
  • Maintains timely, accurate and detailed documentation required by management
  • Possess professional etiquette
  • Outstanding customer service and interact effectively with customers, employees, and the broader community
  • Displays polite, friendly, efficient and responsive Spirit of Service attitude to clients, coworkers and customers
  • Trains workers in performance of duties and assigns and coordinates work of employees to promote an efficient operation
  • Maintains accurate recordkeeping system for production employees' time cards
  • Assists in the selection of new employees
  • Implements disciplinary actions when needed per established policy
  • Completes performance appraisals and recommends salary actions per established policy
  • Supervises serving of meals
  • Inspects kitchen and dining areas, kitchen utensils and equipment to ensure sanitary standards are met
  • Follows established cleaning procedures and schedules
  • Keeps records such as amount and cost of meals served and hours worked by employees
  • Completes opening and closing checklists per department requirements
  • Requisitions and inspects foodstuffs, supplies and equipment to maintain stock levels and ensure standards of quality are met
  • Adheres to established systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment
  • Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal regulations

Requirements

  • Previous customer service experience required
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 1-3 years previous administrative or office experience preferred
  • Candidates should have a validated understanding of computers, Microsoft Office, printers, fax machines, telephones, and photocopiers
  • Shows initiative, follows established procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication & listening skills
  • Demonstrates self-development, and integrity
  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Strong digital literacy skills required i.e. Microsoft office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively
  • Ability to read and interpret procedural documents and write routine reports and correspondence using prescribed format and conform to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Requires management and leadership skills in addition to good planning and organization skills
  • Obtain Food Handlers Certification within 60 days of employment
