About The Position

The Food Service Specialist at IDEA Public Schools is responsible for preparing, portioning, and serving food to students while ensuring adherence to kitchen processes and safety standards. This role involves monitoring student behavior during meal times, encouraging healthy eating habits, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma preferred but not required.
• Food service or restaurant experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to understand food recipes and safe food handling practices.
• Working knowledge of kitchen and food production procedures.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment and tools.
• Basic math skills for portioning food items.

Nice To Haves

• Food Handler's Permit (City or County)
• Experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion food according to established recipes and guidelines.
• Monitor students during meal periods to ensure appropriate behavior and encourage healthy eating.
• Perform kitchen cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes.
• Cut and chop fruits and vegetables as needed.
• Follow established kitchen processes and food safety practices.
• Restock and reset the kitchen for the next day.
• Adapt quickly to changing tasks, such as switching from serving food to cleaning duties.
