About The Position

As a key member of the Food Service management team, the Food Service Shift Leader plays a crucial role in ensuring exceptional customer service and operational efficiency within the Food Service department. This position involves leading by example and driving sales through effective merchandising of fresh products. The Shift Leader assists the Food Service Manager in building a productive staff through teamwork and effective training, ensuring that all associates are equipped with the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively. The Shift Leader is responsible for maintaining a positive and friendly atmosphere, encouraging associates to engage with customers and provide prompt, courteous service. This role requires constant interaction with management, associates, and customers, necessitating strong communication skills and a professional demeanor. The Shift Leader will also assist in running all areas of the Food Service operations, including training and development of associates, implementing marketing programs, and ensuring compliance with company policies and local regulations. In addition to customer service and staff management, the Shift Leader is tasked with maintaining high standards of product quality and safety. This includes regular inspections of products, adherence to sanitation schedules, and completion of necessary paperwork. The Shift Leader must also be flexible in their work hours, as the role may require nights, weekends, and holidays. Overall, this position is vital to the success of the Food Service department and the overall mission of Food City to run the best store in town.
