About The Position

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) envisions a world where children are safe, families are strong, and communities are vibrant. LSF is seeking a talented Food Service Manager who wants to make an impact in the lives of others. Purpose and Impact: The Food Service Manager will be responsible for cooking for the youth as well as ensuring ingredients are tagged, date-labeled, covered, stored and rotated effectively. The Food Service Manager will also maintain the proper food levels; restock items on time; and keep utensils and equipment clean and sanitary. This is a non-direct care position.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Culinary Arts, Culinary Management or related required.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in food service preparation within a residential, institutional or educational, or large restaurant setting.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license preferred and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as required by contractual agreement.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare quality food for youth.
  • Assistance in menu preparation to ensure compliance with specified standards and recommendations by the American Dietetic Association, funding source, State licensing, National School Lunch Programs (NSLP) and LSF guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and hazard-free dining room and kitchen facilities at all times.
  • Ensure the kitchen facilities are in compliance with health department standards.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory for food purchases and equipment including monitoring monthly waste control.
  • Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to prepare for cooking or serving.
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
  • Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment.
  • Apportion and serve food to facility residents.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
