An overview of this position entails…This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen including supervision of kitchen and dining room staff, creating the work schedule, menu planning, ordering food, etc. Fostering teamwork, this position is instrumental in providing mentoring, training, education, coaching, counseling, and coordination for their staff. Responsibilities include: budget management, maintaining a high level of customer service, and all aspects of food production, service, and storage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, organizational management, culinary, hospitality, and two (2) years’ experience in kitchen and/or dining operations, or equivalent related experience; some supervisory experience is required.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License (required)
  • Food Handler’s Card (required)
  • ServSafe Manager Certificate (required)

  • CPR Certificate/First Aid Certificate (preferred)
  • De-Escalation Training (preferred)
  • Hilltop’s Transportation Certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct oneself as a leader by taking ownership the program, quality of care, and commitment to the betterment and growth of The Commons by providing the following: offering solutions, development of processes promoting communication with others supporting communication from staff to management prioritizing tasks representing your area at leadership meetings actively participating in problem resolution creating opportunities to support the growth in subordinate staff by enlisting their input identifying strengths and weaknesses in subordinate staff and addresses with the individual in a positive manner
  • Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior that align with the values of the Hilltop’s Assisted Living Community (ALC) philosophy: Service 1, how we treat each other Service 2, how we treat the residents Service 1 and Service 2 is demonstrated by setting boundaries, being predictable, consistent, kind, and transparent.
  • Responsible for safety and compliance by providing the following: Ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety and labor laws, requirements, and regulations Conducting regular health and safety inspections to maintain high standards Ensuring staff adheres to safety protocols, including proper food handling, hygiene, and sanitation
  • Manage the daily functions of the Kitchen including the following: Monitoring and managing inventory control and ordering supplies Ensuring the ongoing operation, routine maintenance, and replacement for all kitchen equipment Ensuring food quality through planning, designing, and creating nutritious and appetizing menus while monitoring food product consistency Building and maintaining menus to meet memory care and adult day program regulations, including those established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)
  • Responsible for staff management by performing the following: Hiring, onboarding, training, and supervising staff members, including servers and cooks Ensuring appropriate staffing levels Providing ongoing training, performance management, and disciplinary actions when necessary Processing scheduled payroll Fostering a positive working environment, motivating staff, and maintaining team morale
  • Develop financial management processes by ensuring the following: Developing and managing budgets Controlling labor and food costs Ensuring reconciliation of department expenses Analyzing financial reports and dashboards to make informed business decisions
  • Provide and monitor customer service experience feedback by ensuring the following: Addressing complaints or concerns Maintaining a visible presence in the kitchen and dining room Implementing policies and practices to enhance the customer experience Developing and implementing strategies to improve when necessary.
  • Prepare and operate catering functions both inside and outside of program.
  • Act in Cook and/or Server roles when necessary.
  • Act as the Director on Duty when necessary.
