About The Position

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium has been educating, inspiring, and providing enjoyment to our community for over 100 years. Our Food Services team is currently seeking a Part-Time Food Service Leader for our front of the house (FOH) operations. This position is a PT non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Under limited supervision, you will lead and coordinate the activities and operations of food service areas, including the supervision of Food Service Associates in the preparation of food. This role involves assisting in the training and motivation of staff, developing training and recognition programs, and leading the set up and execution of daily and future events. You will prepare necessary equipment, complete event paperwork, monitor inventory needs, and ensure all sanitation standards are exceeded. This position is a PT non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Requirements

  • Must be 18+ years of age.
  • Must have the physical ability to work on your feet and be outdoors for several hours at a time.
  • The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to be insured through Zoo fleet carrier.
  • Work schedules include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 1-2 years of experience in food service supervision or an equivalent combination of culinary training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Certification in food service sanitation a plus.
  • Candidates must be able to take direction, work independently and multi-task.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills are a plus.
