About The Position

The position is responsible for assembling, delivering, and retrieving patient meals at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital and Cancer Institute. The role requires maintaining a clean work area, following safety and sanitation guidelines, and ensuring that meals meet the needs of patients according to doctors' orders. The position is classified as Per Diem/PRN with variable shifts.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• 6 months previous experience in food service
• Food Service Sanitation required within 30 days of hire
• Food Service Handlers Certification required for MHC, HH, HMC, Cancer Institute within 30 days of hire
• Allergen Certification required within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Maintains clean work area following all safety and sanitation guidelines
• Enters and reports cash transactions
• Adjusts meals to meet the needs of the patient while following doctor’s orders
• Keeps all work areas adequately stocked with food, condiments, beverage and service ware
• Washes dishes and utensils following Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines
• Delivers and retrieves trays using required patient identifiers
• Attractively and accurately assembles patient trays
• Follows established portion control guidelines when serving food and beverages
• Responsible for service to retail operations
• Prepares meals using approved food sanitation practices
• Sweeps and mops floors using approved methods
